Semaine Deux

So, this is a week two wrap up.

Happy Birthday Lauren!!

How many times have I been asked if I am German? DO I LOOK GERMAN TO YOU?? No didn't think so. Although one of Aurelie's friends said that whenever she thought of Australia that she thought of Nicole Kidman or Cate Blancette, and that I fitted into that stereotype. I was like 'Thankkkkks'

Went to the pub. Hh-mm. I had to show my ID. It was pretty intense, there was a dog in the pub. I was like, 'OK then,' there are dogs everywhere here. Ive been to 1,2,3, 3, different pubs here. Cool hey! And no, I don't get drunk, and they don't get drunk. No one gets drunk. We drink RESPECTABLY here. Its great because they have one or two drinks, over the course of like 3-4 hours, and have a good time and then go home. Its great!!

OMG. My English teacher. 'We don't uuuusally say that.' Because you can speak English. Not. And then, asks me if that is correct or say 'you say it like that? ' and I'm like, ahm, no. Then completely ignores what I say and continues on. Now, she has gate crashed my pancake party (no one here has had pancakes, or sticky date pudding). *Shakes head* However, she is really nice, she tries hard, and cuts me some slack. So when I say I hate her, it is in a very loose way.

The boys are so nice here, letting me get on the bus first, even complete strangers, unlike those Australian bogans. I know some nice Australian guys but.

In the book we are reading, one of the chapters is called, 'the lait et le mort'. It translates to 'the milk and the dead'. It is meant to be some intense orthodox, or something, and I was just like, ok then. You keep your dead milk.

In chem the other day, it was sooo funny. We had to turn the page (our chem Teacher is really cool.) and one of the girls hadn't. Then all of a sudden he yells 'Tournez le page Sandra!!' (Turn the page Sandra!!) It was sooooooooo funny, I almost cried. Then Sandra all like, uhm, ok then.

I have been starting school when it is still dark. It makes it very very hard to get out of bed. Very. And then we finish school, and the sun had already started setting. I miss the sun, I hardly ever see it anymore.

I swear I saw I guy that looked just like Mr G this morning (One of Chris Lilly's characters in Summer Heights High for those who don't know, mainly for the benefit of my mum).

I am going on an outing with the exchange group on Friday, to Lurnern, about 3 hours by train north. I think we are going skiing. It is going to be great to catch up with the others and see how they are going.

Then one more week of school then the Christmas Hols, 2 weeks, I think. Then back to school, them home!!

I will continue my Diaries of a Swiss Hoe Bro at a later date. I have more photos to upload also, but I think I will do so at the end of the week. I'll post a bulletin when I do.

Must go, Greys Anat is on, in German.

All my love,

Tara

Jour Cinq

This is day 5. I haven't put on any weight yet, and I am slowly thawing, my English is getting worst and my French is getting better.

Public transport is the shiz. As hard as it may be for me to work it, the service here is excellent. We can pretty much get any where in Switzerland. It is really good, we walk to the train station, and then on the train, then walk to school, after school, we talk the bus to the train station, and then the train and then another bus to right outside our house. Did you know that there is public transport protocol? Nup, neither did I. There is, asking before you sit next to someone, not talking to them unless they talk first, saying sorry if you as so much touch someone. I know.

These people look after their car headlights here guys, they have window wipers and those squirty things that clean the windscreens (I will take a photo and upload them, I have to get more batteries, will do on the weekend, so you can expects photos on Sunday or Monday.) they are so cute, andddd they have little tiny rubbish bins, will also take a photo.

Paris is booked for the 17th and 18th of December. Excitement *Biggest smile in the history of the world*. I am not trying to make anyone jealous, please don't think that I am, I am just trying to share my excitement, and give you a virtual Switzerland.

Everyone here dresses in grey/brown/dark blue/purple/black/white, in my chemistry class on Tuesday, I was the only one wearing a colour of the rainbow (Jaimee's blue jacket, your clothes are so good, thank you ). It is intense. And everyone wears belts, like for no particular reason.

Chemistry here is cool, not that it isn't cool in Aus, just that I didn't get it. We pretty much only do pracs. It is cool. I like it.

The teacher here are so funny, there is more male teachers than females, and everyone laughs at their own jokes. It is so cute. You know how there is an Australian breed of PE teachers? There is a Swiss one too. They are really weird. Like OMG weird. I got in “trouble” for passing the soccer ball to long, and not short enough. It's not like it a full field. Just because I am used to playing on a full field. She was a weird child. The other one was old and bald. Not like Mr. Marshall bald, like, he-was-so-old-he-had-no-hair-left. And he had Brodie basketball shoes on tooo, it was so cute/scary at the same time.

These people I was sitting with at lunch, they were teaching me how to swear in French. Not that my brain can remember anything that has been said to me in the last week. And they were telling me – in English- about Swiss German, he was so cute speaking English, “It izzz ' orrible”

There is no school spirit, they don't even seem to like each other. Lets keep the love ok.

All the boys here are such gentlemen's, not like in Australia *cough* they let me go first, and carry my stuff, and open doors for me, even boys that I don't know from a bar of soap. And I don't think that is it my looks, I've got nothing on these Swiss girls. They make them well here, maybe the Australian boy *cough* could take a leaf out of their book. *cough*

Whoever taught me to look left and right, unnecessary. It is the law for cars to stop for people here, even if they aren't on a crossing. And they do. That's another thing, everyone drives good cars here, like Mercedes and BMW.

I had my first sad I-miss-everyone-one-moment the other day. Where? On public transport of course.

They have cold toilet seats here.

I full don't have to shave my legs for 9 weeks, or my underarms, but I think I will, just out of personal moral.

I was on myspace in our computer class, because I was allowed to do what I wanted, and I was looking at my pictures and missing you all. My friend sitting next to me pointed to a picture to the B1Bs and said they are your friends? I was like yer, and the look on her face was sooo priceless. And then she is like, oh, I only have one, you have more than one?. And I'm like, oh, they aren't my boyfriends no no no. . . and she is like, oh ok then. It was so funny, I was like, no no no, you should've seen her face, she did say that they were all right thought. *ego booster for the B1s.* *personal note: do not try to explain the B1B to anyone*

School starts at 8.15am here, like classes start at 8.15. We have one 20mins break at 10ish and then the breaks vary from 12-1 depending on what classes you have. Then classes finish at 4.05. Mm-hm.

It was 0 degrees yesterday. And this is hardly winter.

I hope all is well in the home land and that your lives are chugging along nicely. Enjoy the heat for me!!

All my love,

Tara

P.S Jordan: Congratulate Amanda for me? Thanks!!

Swizterland: Day 1

Je n'ai jamais vu tant de pain dans ma vie.

Translation ?

I have never seen so much bread in my life.

Greetings from Lausanne, Switzerland. Everything is well here, although a slight cough seems to have found its way into my lungs.

Today I went to school, and then we went into town to get a train card. I'm sick of public transport already and it is only day 1.

Everything is so different here. Well duh.

For one every body dresses really well. Nat that Australia doesn't dress well, well compared to this we don't, compared to this we are Bogans (capital B) dressed badly. Very badly. I look around the school and the city and everyone is dressed as if they are going to the civic, just with more clothes on. There is more hair gel than David Beckhams bath room, and more make up being worn that one on Boy George's videos. Which one? Bahahaha .

Then, no one is fat. Like no one, not that that is a bad thing, their doctors must be out of work. All the girls are my height and weight and all the boys are about Darren's size, but just with better hair. . Actually hair is pretty bad there too. There is a guy sitting at the table in front f me with a head band. Mm-hm, not joking. All the guys here, dress as if they are just a little bit off, you know, gay. I mean, a bright orange sweater and a grey scarf? Not doing it for me, sorry.

I have fully kissed every guy I have met. Except my biol teacher, thank god. Like I dunno what you are mean to do when you go out because you've reached 5th base at hello. Intense. Its like that movie, jerry someone, you had me at hello, well this is like that, literally.

I take 12 subjects, 12. I am going to come back so super smart you won't know who I am. I won't know who I am.

Guys there are no rules in this school. Like I know Pimlico could loosen up in a few areas, but rules are good. In biol, they where txting in plain daylight, eating like they were at home, and talking the whole lesson. I was shocked. Then there was the paper plains in economy *Yawn* and the juice box. A juice box like Ashley O has.

They don't seem to be very close as a grade either, I'm glad that at good old Pimmy, we all love each other. Isn't that right guys.

My phone works here too, so txt me!

Sleep is good, lack of sleep is not good. I made Aurelie miss the bus this morning because I slept in. Oi, it was a quarter to 7, we had to catch the bus at 10 to. After 30 hours of travelling, I think you can forgive me,

Water is not free here. I wanted to fill up my water bottle at the airport, could I? No. That'll just *dollar sign* 4.70 thanks. God, I'm not that thirsty. And then at the train station, no that's just 4.80 dollars. And! And the toilet the toilet was 1 franc, one franc to pee for godsake. Geez talk about being ripped off.

Everyones always grumpy too, so are nice and happy, but some seem to have their faces glued in the I've-just-missed-the-train-and-then-a-dog-peed-on-my-shoe look. I think it might be that because it is so cold, they don't have much sex, yer, that'd be it.

I know why they aren't fat, its because they have to go up like a zillon stairs. I so just went up 100. no joke. And we think that the home ec stairs are hard.

Jamiee, your bed socks are a god sent, more like a Jamiee sent. Thank you, I love them.

Guys, it's a little bit hard to represent the love here when everyone is grumpy because of a lack of sex. Not my fault.

I love where I am staying, the three of them are so crazy/cute/lovely I wouldn't I don't want to stay anywhere else. I feel so welcome, its in sane. I feel at home. Ofcourse it is not home, but if I had to be anywhere in the world I would be here. You should see the view from my room. Its like heaven on earth. Ok heaven in Europe, we all know that Australia is heaven on earth.

That's another thing, there doesn't seem to be any sense if national identity here. Its all just keep to yourself, do what you have to do, that sort of thing. I cant imagine any of these people protesting or having a Christmas parade. Oh, I'm going to miss those. Come on people, happiness. There are blue skies today, not Townsville blue skies but blue skies all the same. In the distance I can see the mountains, in all their glory. They seem to stand there like, “Oi, I'm taller than you” and then the other one is like “you got nothing on me bud”, even thought they are all the same mountain. They are the most amazing things you'll ever see, besides me at the top of a fence in minimal clothing (Mum, I wasn't drink, I just wanted to see what was at the top of the fence.)

There are dogs everywhere too, in the airport, on the trains, in the streets. There is a reason dogs aren't allowed in the mall, well, I suppose I haven't really seen any doggy-do-dos here. Just a hell of a lot of dogs.

OMG Driving. Everything is on the right. I have to walk up a zillon stairs, on the right!! They drive pretty bad over here, like maniacs infact. Like safe maniacs but.

Guys my name isn't Tara anymore. Its Ta-rahhhhhhhhhh <enter strong French accent here>. The worst thing is that I am introducing myself as Ta-rahhh too.

It is was awesome to be here, and everyone is really nice, a I know that speaking French will come, and that being able to work public transport will come and I know that getting up early with also come, yawn. Everything will be fine.

Day 1 of however-many-there-are-left-to-go complete.

All my love,

Tara
